Frequently Asked Questions about Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose and Polyanionic Cellulose

2024-01-13

1. Due to their hygroscopicity and other thickening properties, Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose and Polyanionic Cellulose should pay attention to the following points during storage:

1) Store in a cool, dry, clean and ventilated environment with temperature <40°C and relative humidity <75%.

2) From the date of production, the shelf life (shelf life) of industrial-grade cellulose shall not exceed 4 years, and that of food-grade cellulose shall not exceed 2 years.

3) During transportation, the product should be prevented from getting damp and the packaging bag from being damaged.

2. Packing quantity of Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose and Polyanionic Cellulose

For Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and Polyanionic Cellulose (PAC) packaged in 25kg kraft paper composite bags, the packing quantities in different cabinets are different:

1) The packing capacity of 20GP is 14-ton bags with pallet and 18-ton bag without pallet;

2) The packing capacity of 40GP is 25 tons bags without pallet, and 22-23 tons bag with pallet.

Details of the palletizing and packing volume of 20GP containers:

1) Pallet size 1.1m*1.1m, 20 pieces

2) 700kg per pallet, i.e. 28 bags of CMC

3) Total 14 tons

3. Commonly used dissolution methods for Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) and Polyanionic Cellulose (PAC)

1) While stirring, slowly add CMC to accelerate dissolution;

2) Under heating, adding CMC dispersedly can increase the dissolution speed, but the heating temperature should not be too high, and the suitable range is 50°C-60°C;

3) When mixed with other materials, the solids should be mixed first and then dissolved, and the dissolution speed can also be increased;

4) Add an organic solvent that is incompatible with CMC but is miscible with water, such as ethanol, glycerin, etc., and then dissolve it to increase the dissolution speed;

5) For special products, for quick CMC, it can be completely dissolved in the aqueous solution within a few minutes without stirring and become a transparent colloid. At this time, the viscosity of CMC has not reached the expectation. After half an hour, the viscosity will Slowly reach the desired viscosity.
